SHTF ( Survival Homestead Teaching Festival)
We had a successful SHTF festival in October 2024. Unfortunately it was the weekend after hurricane Helene and much of western North Carolina and East Tennessee was picking up the pieces of the devastation. Even with many of the instructors and vendors canceling last minute, it was still successful. We had wonderful volunteers step up and teach classes. We had a wonderful day and was blessed to be able to present this to our neighborhood.
Unfortunately Patriot Popcorn in Butler TN has recently closed their doors due to the downswing in the economy. (It is a shame because they had THE BEST popcorn I ever put in my mouth!) As much as we were appreciative for the space to hold this festival, it will not be available for 2025. So we are in search of a new location. It needs to be a large gathering space with individual classrooms, restroom accessibility, plenty of parking, outdoor space for vendor tents, and preferably close to a camp ground or hotel for out-of-the-area visitors. I am hoping a church in the area in or around Elizabethton TN may see this as an outreach and possibly allow us to use their space for a day or two. I would love to have this at the end of April but that may be a bit of a challenge since it is already the end of January when I am typing this so we may need to shoot for the beginning of October again for 2025 if we find a location.
If a location is found, it will be posted here. Any tickets will be given at the door. Cash only. Any proceeds collected will be donated to The Homesteading and Prepping Community of Carter County TN.
